These terms govern your use of the Lesson Transcriber Chrome extension and related services at lessontranscriber.com and api.lessontranscriber.com. By installing or using the extension, you agree to these terms.

Service description

Lesson Transcriber is a Chrome extension that records audio from browser tabs and microphones, sends it to our backend server for AI-powered transcription, and returns the transcript to your browser.

Device identity

Lesson Transcriber does not require a traditional account or password. When you install the extension, a unique device identifier is automatically generated. This device ID is used to manage your subscription and track usage. You are responsible for any activity associated with your device ID.

Free trial and subscriptions

• Your first 5 transcriptions are free, with no payment required.
• After the free transcriptions, a paid subscription of $7 per month is required to continue transcribing.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time via the extension settings page, which opens the Stripe customer portal.
• No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
• If you reinstall the extension on a new device, use "Restore Purchase" with the email address you used at checkout to recover your subscription.

Recording and consent

Lesson Transcriber records audio from your browser tab and microphone. Depending on your jurisdiction, recording a conversation may require the consent of all parties involved. You are solely responsible for obtaining any required consent before recording. We do not monitor or verify whether consent has been obtained.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Record content in violation of applicable laws or third-party rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the extension or backend services
• Circumvent payment or subscription mechanisms
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use the service to transmit malicious content

Intellectual property

The Lesson Transcriber extension, website, and backend services are owned by Lesson Transcriber. All rights are reserved.

Your content belongs to you. We claim no ownership of your audio recordings or transcripts. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process your audio solely for the purpose of providing the transcription service.

Privacy

Your use of Lesson Transcriber is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how it is used.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of transcriptions. AI-powered transcription may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any transcript before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lesson Transcriber shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.

Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling your subscription.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
